[EN] The present paper addresses the alkali activation of\udPortland cements containing blast furnace slag (20 and\ud30% by cement weight) with a view to the possible use\udof these materials in oil well construction.\udThe hydration studies conducted showed that in\udcement/slag blends, the sodium silicate activator\udpartially inhibited the dissolution of the silicate phases in\udthe Portland cement, retarding cement hydration and\udreducing the precipitation of reaction products. Due to\udsuch partial inhibition, the cement/slag blends had\udsignificantly lower mechanical strength than Portland\udcements hydrated with water. 29Si and 27Al MAS NMR\udand BSE/EDX studies, in turn, showed that the CSH gel\udforming in the alkali-activated cement/slag pastes\udcontained Al in tetrahedral positions and low Ca/Si ratios.
